Santa brought Grama Linda a Shirley Temple doll when she was a young girl and she has kept it on a shelf in her bedroom for all these years.
Even with having three daughters Linda kept Shirley safe on a dresser top and brought her out only for special cameo appearances.

Shirley finally found her true purpose - to delight Linda's grandaughter.
Sophia fell in love with her.
Grama even let her sleep with Shirley!
That rates right up there with getting to play in the China cabinet.
In the midst of doll playing Grama realized that they could watch old Shirley Temple clips on utube.
What an exciting evening it turned out to be.
Truth be told they stayed up way past bedtime.
They sang and tapdanced the night away.
Songs like:

Even oyster stew!

On account of I like you!"
Shirley is back on her shelf.
She'll come out only on special occasion visits like
when Lola comes to town in the future.
Grama wants to keep her in good condition.
Who knows?
One day Sophia and Lola may have little girls of their own who will want to sleep with her too.
Life just doesn't get much better than this!
