The Afterglow

Christmas has come and gone for us and for all of you too. We are all facing a brand new year with all the joys and challenges that will accompany it.

It was just delightful to have a child in our midst this past year. Everything took on a new meaning, especially Christmas.

This was the beginning of what Sophia called "The Christmas Room". She would enter it and begin to whirl and twirl and sing and dance. There was never a dull moment.

For some reason, my camera gathered dust this season. I went into a mode of just enjoying the moments. Laura was the official mamarazzi while I just kept the hot chocolate flowing, so to speak. Sara joined us earlier in the week and we baked and watched videos and played games. Sophia is at the age where she 'gets it' and I resurrected all sorts of childhood parlor games that brought us hours of giggles.

The Browns and Pearsons gathered on Christmas eve for our traditional polenta and after a wonderful Christmas morning and breakfast Dave and Sara headed back to Dave's family's dinner. Instead of cooking a turkey this year we had grilled steak, garlic mashed potatoes and caesar salad. It was yummy.

Bob is enjoying downloading books and reading from his ipad these days and I'm enjoying doing some re-purposing around the homestead. That equates to Bob moving furniture for me and hanging things on the wall or whatever else my fancy comes up with. I sure have a good husband!

Just basking in the afterglow of Christmas...
And by the way, today is Troy and Eileen's 60th wedding anniversary!!!
I put a wee picture of them on the right sidebar.
I hear that my brother and his band of musicians came to play at Alderson's and that my family all gathered around.
Congratulations, Mom and Dad!
