Be Still...

Earlier this morning I had several conversations. Within them there was talk of being exhausted and overwhelmed from day to day life. Everyone is wanting the simple life but are feeling trapped. . . in ruts and out of control due to schedules and demands. It's like an epidemic but everyone is too busy to slow down.
I happened upon my friend Cathie's Facebook post and I thought she was waxing eloquently over the very same theme. When I got to the end of the post I saw that it was a quote from The Message Bible. How appropriate. How applicable to our current day. Scripture is like that!
I can’t help but share the sentiment and hope it encourages you like it did me...
It's one of those double sided sword messages. It's not about 'doing nothing' but doing what is important AFTER you have entered into God's bigger picture of resting in Him and living according to His purposes. "We shall run and not grow weary, we shall walk and not faint" when we do it God's way! Enjoy this beautiful fall day and the beginning of yet another week on this planet...
“But make sure that you don’t get so absorbed and exhausted in taking care of all your day-by-day obligations that you lose track of the time and doze off, oblivious to God. The night is about over, dawn is about to break. Be up and awake to what God is doing! God is putting the finishing touches on the salvation work he began when we first believed. We can’t afford to waste a minute, must not squander these precious daylight hours in frivolity and indulgence, in sleeping around and dissipation, in bickering and grabbing everything in sight. Get out of bed and get dressed! Don’t loiter and linger, waiting until the very last minute. Dress yourselves in Christ, and be up and about!” –Romans 13:11-14, The Message
