Pasta Night

First we maka the pasta!
Then we maka the salad!

Then we setta the table!

Then we eata the appies!

Then we sit down to business!

Bon Appetit!

When you have your Fijian family over for dinner, you don't make Indian food! I had a good laugh yesterday as I prepared my Italian dinner remembering a moment in my marriage. Bob and I hadn't been married for more than a week or two when one of his Italian buddies was invited over to meet me and have dinner. I piped in that I would make spaghetti and Bob said, "NO!" I know now that you don't make Italian food for an Italian mama's boy. I don't remember what I ended up cooking, but yesterday I thought, "You've come a long way, baby!" Poor Bob. I had really scared him early on because in my 'modesty' I had told my new husband that I didn't know how to cook. Well, that wasn't quite true. I had a few tricks up my sleeve which included some pretty yummy Mexican dishes. The point early on was that I didn't cook with much spice and you who know Bob know that a little dash of salt and pepper weren't going to cut it. I knew how to wield the paprika jar for Paprigash and had a stash of cumin and garlic powder but that was about it. Fun memory.
We experienced, once again, one of the most perfect end of summer evenings that you can imagine. I was so thankful to be able to have Radha, Kamal and Dad over to share it with us. Officer Gautam has talked about coming over to have pictures taken in the garden with the guy's uniforms on and we finally did it. The men looked really handsome. I'll be posting those pictures soon.
