Another moment in history
Irene, Jean, Don and Linda
On July 24, 1940 Thelma Olsen stood at her mother's grave at the Maple Ridge Cemetery. It was Thelma's birthday so it was even more poignant for her. Thelma passed away this January but today was the day that we laid her ashes to rest next to her mother. Her sister Jean stands in the position that Thelma was in, Bob stands where her father stood and her nephew Don is standing where his mother (Thelma's sister) stood. The beautiful flowers are from Thelma's garden. Thelma was a dearly loved member of our church and a retired missionary who worked in Taiwan for many years. It was an honor to participate in this unique moment in history today as we said our final goodbyes to dear Thelma.
It is becoming rare to be able to visit a loved one at a gravesite as many now have their ashes spread into nature. It is lovely for me to think that I can actually pay my respects to Thelma in my own neighborhood. She lived right here for many years, long before I was born.

I'm speechless. What a tribute. The pictures are touching.
