I got such a kick out of the cover of this book - FULLY ILLUSTRATED!!! What a hoot! I don't think so. Can you imagine opening up a photo album of all the beauties of the Bible from Bathsheba to Jezebel to gorgeous 90 year old Sarah? I would quite enjoy that! I am planning to make a photo album of beautiful women and mine will include plenty of 80 year old beauties. We know true beauty comes from within and it radiates to every wrinkle known to woman. I was really taken a-back this morning while I was cruising through photos on Facebook. I know some pretty amazing looking women!!! They come in every color too. I actually left my computer screen in a bit of shock. When I was young we had Seventeen Magazine to keep us posted on beauty and fashion. Now all I have to do is look at the young women of our day. Do you realize what digital imaging has done for us? I have been known to pose for a picture or two in my life (ha ha). Some of us like posing more than others. We are becoming obsessed in our culture with our own images!!! We have access to make up and clothes and can go on holidays where we can pose on location. We have our own paparazzis and if no one else is around we do self portraits. The beauty is stunning. But I couldn't help but walk away this morning with a bit of a heavy heart. I hope through all of this glitz and glamour young womenw will realize that charm is deceptive and beauty is vain but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. The true and abiding beauty comes from God's Spirit dwelling within. My hope is that hearts will be turned to TRUE BEAUTY. The psalmist declared, "One thing have I asked of the Lord and that my heart seeks after - to behold the BEAUTY OF THE LORD and to inquire in His temple." In other words to see Him and know Him and allow His character to reflect in our character. Natural beauty has a way of fleeing away. What we have become INSIDE is what will remain!! If we spent as much time transforming the inside as we do the outside I think a lot of the images on Facebook would begin to change. What do you think would be posted? Food for thought.
Amen mama!
