I have been much inspired by my lovely daughter Laura and her beautiful blog spot. I faithfully check her web site more times a day than necessary but it is always such a JOY to find her quips and delightful pictures of my precious granddaughter Sophia. I always thirst for more!
My grandson Samuel's Grama Carol sent me her Flicker posts today and for some reason I knew it was time for me to become a blogger. I've always loved an audience so I might as well jump on the band wagon and share my thoughts with my family and friends.
Since becoming a grandmother I've tried on different 'titles' that go with the name Linda. Linda is such a fifties name. I thought I might like to be called Noni but I didn't know how to spell it. It is indicative of Italian and Indian grandmothers. My last name is Italian and I seem to have Fijian blood these days. My girlfriend Bam had a pink Noni and a blue Noni because one tinted her hair blue and the other wore a lot of rouge on her cheeks. It is just a cute title. My little Sophia's other grama is called Lola in the Filipino custom and bears the title of Lola Joy. To date I proudly bear the title of Grama.
So here is a cute story from today.....My sister Sandra emailed me and told me that she was talking about Bob and Linda in Canada and her co-worker thought she was speaking of a woman named Babalinda. Bob and I are definitely two peas in a pod so the one name melded us together even more. I wrote her back and told her that in the Ukranian tradition my friends call their grandmother Baba, so in fact it would be Bob and BabaLinda. Now that is a mouthful! So far Samuel has learned to say Bob and points him out even in the pictures around the house.
Truth be told I love being Grama Linda and I am passionate about my Sam and Sophia. And I know Bob would prefer Grampa to just plain Bob. Whatever the grandkids call us as they learn to speak will be just fine with us. We love the role that it represents and are definitely enjoying this season of our life!!!
Good job mom! Now I have another blog to check in my daily email/internet routine. Fun!
